The Low Cost Group was formed in 2004 and has grown quickly to become one of the UK's leading online travel companies.
It has 3 major trading businesses: a consumer facing travel business; a high quality supplier of hotel accommodation to travel agents; and a holiday transfer business.
Altitude have worked with Low Cost primarily delivering a group-wide data warehouse and management information system and other marketing websites.
Projects we have delivered:
With their package holiday business growing fast, it became necessary to implement effective management reporting.
Using the main booking engine as the primary data source, we created a new data warehouse. The challenge was to create a data warehouse that would have enough granularity for the reporting yet not making it so complicated that business analysts found it difficult to work with. Using SQL Server stored procedures we created data routines to transform the raw data into the simplified data warehouse.
For reporting Altitude developed a series of Crystal reports and automation routines to distribute the reports to interested parties on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
In addition, Altitude have created a series of reports utilising the power of Excel pivot tables which link directly to the data warehouse.
The reporting requirement continue to expand with the introduction of new markets and other data sources, such as the Google Adword reporting.
To support the reporting infrastructure, Altitude have also created a backoffice application in Access to allow staff to configure reporting parameters.
Altitude were commissioned early in 2010 to develop the 'Big Search' competition microsite for Low Cost. The site was designed to allow members of the public to submit their video entries with the aim of winning the competition to become 'the face of Low Cost'. The site integrated heavily with YouTube, where all the videos were hosted, and was designed to deal with the YouTube restrictions.
The site was updated on two further occasions, when the competition was closed and when the winner was announced.
Following on from the 'Big Search' website, Altitude were commissioned to create a blogging site for the competition winner. It needed to be distinctive, yet professional.
Utilising Wordpress, Altitude created the website with links into Twitter and Facebook.
