Meggitt Sensing Systems is a manufacturing company specialising in the design a supply of sensors for the aerospace industry.
Projects we have delivered:
Our brief was to create a workflow system to be used within the organisation to manage the FRACAS (Failure Reporting And Corrective Action System) process. Every potential defect in a part needs to be investigated, the root cause identified and a series of actions implemented to ensure that it does not happen again.
As timescales and budgets were tight, it was decided to implement the application in Microsoft Access with a SQL Server backend. The main challenge of the application was the implementation of the complex workflow rules.
The system is still in use, although is planned to be phased out with the introduction of SAP across the Meggitt group.
Another Microsoft Access application was created to manage the receipt of parts from external suppliers. Complex rules were implemented to indicate to staff whether they should carry out a full check of the goods received or whether they could be put straight into the stores. Parts from new suppliers would routinely be inspected and when a series of inspections were found to be correct the system would not require such frequent or detailed checks to be made.
