In January 2016 Altitude were commissioned by Abercrombie & Kent to build their global Intranet. A&K have been moving their internal systems into the Cloud and, having implemented Office 365 across the organisation, were keen to utilise SharePoint Online for the Intranet platform.
Altitude were first tasked with reviewing the work that had been carried out to-date, i.e. a 'health check' on the existing systems. This was followed with advice on governance issues and what could be included in the system.
In addition to defining the requirements of the system, we also planned the overall technical architecture which, given the global and varied nature of the business, resulted in a fairly complex setup. The business has both tour operating companies and product management companies and the trick was to provide both a centralised 'group' intranet, as well as local intranets for each company. In addition, intranets were created for various global departments, including HR and IT.
The initial version of the Intranet was delivered during June 2016 and continues to be enhanced.
